Warwolf is a Canadian power metal band formed in 2015. The band primarily consists of three members – vocalist/guitarist Jason Vautour, bassist Tyler Corbett, and drummer Jon McKinnon. The band’s music is heavily influenced by classic heavy metal and power metal, with its sound often compared to Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Helloween. The band’s debut album, “Riding with the Valkyrie,” was released in 2018, which was met with critical acclaim. The album features a mix of fast-paced, guitar-driven tracks such as “Riding with the Valkyrie” and “Thunder in the Sky,” as well as more melodic tracks like “The Siren’s Song” and “A Call to Adventure.” The album's standout track is the epic, ten-minute-long “Warriors of the North,” which features complex guitar solos and a soaring chorus. What sets Warwolf apart from other power metal bands is its lyrical content. Rather than focusing on traditional fantasy themes, Warwolf’s lyrics explore themes of Norse mythology and Canadian history. For example, the song “The Siren’s Song” is based on the legend of the Chaleur Bay mermaid, while “The Road to Valhalla” is a tribute to Canadian soldiers who fought in World War I. Warwolf’s live performances are renowned for their energy and stage presence, with Vautour often donning a Viking helmet and leather armor. The band has played a number of shows and festivals across Canada, including opening for metal legends Sabaton in Toronto in 2019.
