Tower of Power wurde zu einer Hitmaschine, als Alben wie Back To Oakland und Urban Renewal zu R&B-Standards wurden. In The Slot wurde 1975 veröffentlicht und markierte das Debüt des neuen Sängers Hubert Tubbs. David Garibaldi kehrte nach seiner Abwesenheit vom vorherigen Album Urban Renewal wieder auf den Schlagzeuger-Thron zurück. Das Album enthält Titel wie "Just Enough and Too Much", "As Surely as I Stand Here" und "The Soul of a Child". Ein interessantes Detail: "Ebony Jam" und "Drop It in the Slot" wurden auf dem Beastie Boys-Album "Paul's Boutique" von 1989 gesampelt. David Garibaldi returned to the drummer's throne after being absent from the previous album Urban Renewal. It contains "Just Enough and Too Much", "As Surely as I Stand Here" and the "The Soul of a Child" a.o.
