"Marquee Moon" on CD by Television, manufactured by Rhino, is a landmark of art-punk and early post-punk that has lost none of its intensity since its original 1977 release. The album is built around Tom Verlaine's intricate guitar work and poetic, nervy lyrics, paired with Richard Lloyd's equally inventive playing. Together they create interlocking guitar lines that feel both razor-sharp and improvisational, especially on the iconic title track "Marquee Moon", a sprawling, hypnotic centerpiece that redefined what a rock song could be. Across the album, lean, angular arrangements, tight rhythm work and a tense, nocturnal atmosphere evoke New York's mid-70s underground, making this CD not just a collection of songs but a fully formed artistic statement. The Rhino edition focuses on a clear, dynamic presentation of the original album, preserving its raw edges while letting the details of the performances shine, making it ideal both for new listeners and long-time fans who want a high-quality CD version. Housed in a classic jewel case or digipack (depending on edition) with faithful artwork reproduction, this release is tailored for collectors who value both sound and presentation.

Television were one of the most influential bands to emerge from New York's CBGB scene, standing alongside acts like the Ramones, Patti Smith Group and Talking Heads, yet sounding unlike any of them. Instead of three-chord punk minimalism, Television fused punk's urgency with a highly melodic, almost avant-garde guitar approach and literate songwriting. "Marquee Moon" is widely regarded as their masterpiece and one of the defining albums of the 1970s; it regularly appears in lists of the greatest albums of all time and has left a deep imprint on post-punk, indie rock and alternative bands that followed. Though Television's discography is relatively small, their influence far outweighs their commercial chart presence, and this debut remains the essential entry point into their work.

Rhino, the manufacturer of this CD, is known for its high-quality catalog releases, archival care and attention to detail. Specializing in classic albums and heritage artists, Rhino has built a reputation for using good source materials, thoughtful mastering and well-researched reissues. Collectors often seek out Rhino editions because they balance respect for the original recordings with a modern listening standard, making this "Marquee Moon" CD a reliable, durable and audiophile-minded way to experience a cornerstone of modern rock history.

The debut studio album by American rock band Television, released on February 8, 1977. Released to widespread acclaim, Marquee Moon was hailed by critics as an original musical development in rock music. I recommend.

Merging post punk sensibilities with early rock and roll sound and distinctive guitar work, Television is one of the most unique bands ever.

Valeriy R. - 02/Jun/2017 5 of 5 Stars!
The best punk (or post-punk?) album recorded outside of England. Very impressive music and unusual lyrics. A Rhino remastered digipack edition with luxurious booklet and five bonuses. A top-class thing!

This is a wonderful album. Its vibe, Tom Verlaine's quirky vocals, and of course, these legendary guitars from Verlaine and Richard Lloyd. This is the defining album from the CBGBs heydey, and by a long shot at that.
