| Description: | 2006 release by the world's only German/Chilean "electrolatino" interpreter of pop standards. This time out, Coconut is back with a proper Latin big band, fronted by the inimitable Venezuelan singer Argenis Brito, to pay tribute to Japanese electronic pioneers Yellow Magic Orchestra. Making the orchestra that much more magical, all three of YMO's members (Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi, and Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer Ryuichi Sakamoto) make guest appearances on the album. And rounding out the barmy, mixed-up social club, the album features a host of distinguished collaborators including Towa Tei, Burnt Friedman, Mouse on Mars, Akufen, Schneider TM and Nouvelle Vague's Marina. Essay.Additional title: "Señor Coconut plays the music of Yellow Magic Orchestra".
Track 21 is a hidden track with only the sound of 1 'bleep'.

Artist on cover: "Señor Coconut And His Orchestra Featuring Argenis Brito?"
Artist on CD & spine: "Señor Coconut And His Orchestra""Yellow Fever!" is a CD that showcases Señor Coconut's unique fusion of Latin rhythms with electronic sensibilities, creating an irresistibly playful and sophisticated sound. Known for transforming electronic and pop traditions into tropical, danceable grooves, this album continues his trademark approach: richly arranged percussion, warm horn sections and witty, rhythm-driven interpretations that sound both retro and futuristic at the same time. Listeners can expect a colorful sonic palette that moves between lounge, mambo, cha-cha and playful electronic textures, always with a strong sense of groove and tongue-in-cheek elegance. The production values are deliberately detailed, giving each instrument space and presence, making "Yellow Fever!" as interesting for close listening as it is for the dance floor.
Señor Coconut is the alter ego of German-Chilean musician and producer Uwe Schmidt, a pioneering figure in experimental electronic and Latin-infused club music. Under the Señor Coconut moniker, he became internationally known for his inventive Latin reinterpretations of well-known electronic tracks, which earned him critical acclaim in both the electronic and world-music communities. His work has been praised for its clever arrangements, high musical craftsmanship and the way it bridges cultures and genres. With releases and performances across Europe, Asia and the Americas, Señor Coconut has cultivated a dedicated global following.
The label Essay is associated with carefully curated, artist-driven releases that often move between experimental sounds and accessible grooves.
