RIPPING CORPSE

Ripping Corpse was a four-piece band, consisting of vocalist Scott Ruth, guitarist Shaune Kelley, bassist Dave Bizzigotti, and drummer Brandon Thomas. The band's style of music primarily revolved around death metal, with occasional hints of thrash metal and progressive metal. Their self-released demo titled "Death Warmed Over" gained quite a bit of attention from the underground metal scene, which later led them to sign with the German metal label, Kraze Records. Their debut album, "Dreaming with the Dead," was released in 1991, which marked a significant shift in the death metal scene at that time. The album was co-produced by Erik Rutan, who later moved on to form his band, Hate Eternal. The album featured intricate solos, progressive song structures, and technical drumming, which were quite distinctive from what was going around in the death metal scene at the time. Ripping Corpse caught the attention of famous music magazines like Metal Hammer, who called them "The next big thing in death metal." However, just after the release of their debut album, the band underwent significant line-up changes, which included Scott Ruth leaving the band, and eventually, Ripping Corpse disbanded in 1992. What distinguished Ripping Corpse from their peers was their attention to detail in their songwriting, technical precision, and the way they blended different elements of metal music together. Despite their relatively short career, Ripping Corpse remained an influential band in the death metal scene, with their music inspiring many metal bands in the future. In conclusion, Ripping Corpse was a legendary metal band with a unique musical style that still inspires and influences many bands today. Though they had a relatively short-lived career, their music continues to resonate with metalheads worldwide.
