Cembaless plays boldly, joyfully and passionately a hymn to life, expressing emotions ranging between the extreme polarities that human life offers. - "Passacaglia della Vita" - an homage to the facets of life: heartache, betrayal, seduction, impermanence, excitement, fun and laughter. At the center of the concept of the program is the eponymous song "Passacaglia della Vita" by Stefano Landi. While the stanzas depict a wide variety of life situations and repeatedly call for the enjoyment of life in accordance with the motto "Carpe diem," the refrain repeats the rather admonishing "bisogna morire" - each of us dies. The reminder of death - or in a religious sense, the belief in redemption and life eternal - illustrates the finiteness of worldly joys and gives us a framework for life."Passacaglia della Vita" on CD presents the young ensemble Cembaless in a vivid journey through early Baroque music, built around the emblematic theme of life's transience and emotional depth. With their flexible instrumentation centred on the harpsichord but extending to other period instruments and voice, Cembaless bring a fresh, rhythmic and highly communicative approach to historical repertoire. The album combines meditative, almost spiritual moments with dance-like, virtuosic pieces, highlighting colourful contrasts, expressive melodic lines and finely shaped ornamentation. Carefully balanced sound engineering and a clear acoustic image allow every detail of articulation and ensemble interplay to be heard, making this recording attractive both to early-music specialists and to listeners discovering this repertoire for the first time.
