Description:
This album is one of Klaus' sideline ideas, a "Wahnfried" release. And certainly not exactly a typical "Schulze", if such a character does exist at all. In the 90ties there was a new musical dance fashion, called Techno, Trance or Ambient, and most of it's champions called Klaus and respectfully the "Fathers of Trance and Techno". The idea for Klaus Schulze was, to do a "Trance" album himself.
"Trancelation" is an atmospheric CD release by Klaus Schulze under his Wahnfried project, issued by Mig / Indigo. Rooted in Schulze's trademark blend of expansive electronic soundscapes and hypnotic rhythmic structures, this album explores meditative, trance-like states through long-form compositions, layered synthesizers and slowly evolving textures. The music is aimed at listeners who appreciate deep, immersive listening experiences rather than short, radio-friendly tracks, and it is particularly suitable for late-night sessions, focused work, or introspective moments. With its subtle shifts in harmony and pulsating sequences, "Trancelation" bridges classic Berlin School electronics with a more contemporary, ambient-trance aesthetic, offering both warmth and a sense of cosmic distance.
Klaus Schulze, working here as Wahnfried, is regarded as one of the pioneers of electronic and space music and was a key figure of the so-called Berlin School. Over the decades he created numerous influential solo albums and collaborations and helped define the sound of progressive electronic music far beyond Germany. His work inspired generations of ambient, techno and film composers, and releases under the Wahnfried name are often seen as a more experimental or concept-driven extension of his main catalog, focusing on trance-oriented structures and deep electronic atmospheres.
The CD edition of "Trancelation" offers clear, detailed sound and is aimed at collectors of classic electronic music as well as newcomers who want to discover Schulze's more trance-inflected side. Carefully produced liner information (where included) and the focused track selection make this disc a strong standalone listening experience and a valuable addition to any collection of ambient, electronic or kosmische music.
Mig / Indigo is a German label and distributor known for carefully curated catalog releases, often focusing on high-quality editions of rock, jazz and especially electronic and progressive music. With "Trancelation," Mig / Indigo once again underline their commitment to making key works of electronic pioneers available in dependable, collector-friendly form.
A bright representative of German psychedelic synthesizer music. One of the innovators of the instrumental electronic scene. Very special atmospheric music.
