En lo musical, el álbum combina guitarras atmosféricas, ritmos fuertes y melodías melancólicas dentro de un clima tenso y casi cinematográfico. Las canciones se mueven entre estribillos intensos y pasajes más íntimos, logrando un equilibrio entre energía guitarrera y profundidad emocional. En las letras aparecen temas como la incertidumbre, el cambio personal y la sensación de vivir tiempos convulsos, todo envuelto en un sonido que por momentos es urgente y por momentos hipnótico.
En formato CD, « Oceans Will Rise » está pensado como una obra de conjunto, con un orden de temas que construye un recorrido coherente de principio a fin. The Stills forman parte de la destacada oleada de bandas canadienses de indie rock surgidas a comienzos de los años 2000.
