This is the first official rerelease of PHAROAH, which has been bootlegged often since its original release in 1977. These exceptional live versions of "Harvest Time"-which Pharoah performed during an intense European tour in the summer of '77 and which are included here for the first time-turn the original, beloved composition on its head. - EMBOSSED BOX SET FT. 24P BOOKLET, PHOTOS AND EPHEMERABox set with embossed print on front. Includes the original album plus a second LP with two previously unreleased live performances.
According to www.pharoahsanders.com/ (a site associated to the estate of Pharoah Sanders and to the issuer of the current release Luaka Bop) the lacquer cutting was done at Bernie Grundman Mastering.
Contains a 24-page booklet, one matte gatefold record jacket (Pharoah), one glossy standard record jacket (Harvest Time Live 1977), plain white poly-lined inner sleeves for each record, and several replicas:
- poster of Jazzhus Montmartre, Copenhagen (August 1977);
- news clipping from New York Daily News, (Aug., 10, 1977);
- ticket for The Pharoah Sanders Group, Aug. 28, 1977 at the Sinkkasten Artsclub, Frankfurt am Main;
- head sheet for Harvest Time;
- large photograph of Pharoah Sanders;
- contact copy sheet of 35 mm film; and
- seven small photographs in an Italian photo sleeve (of Cine Foto Studio, Rome).
