Perez Prado In Japan/Twist Goes Latin is an album by Perez & Orchestra Prado, released in 2015. The album is a latin CD. - .. JAPAN/TWIST GOES LATIN
This is a pairing of two sought after Perez Prado albums - "Prado in Japan", a "live" recording of his 1960 concert in Tokyo featuring his hits "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White", "Tequila", "Historia de un Amor", only issued in Japan and never been issued on CD till now, and the album "Twist Goes Latin", also first time on CD. As bonus tracks we have included the rare single "Princess Suga" and "Tokyo Fantasy", only issued in Japan.
This CD brings together two vibrant albums by Perez Prado & His Orchestra, showcasing the King of Mambo at the height of his powers: the Japanese-inspired sessions of "Prado in Japan" and the dance-floor-ready "Twist Goes Latin". Across these recordings, listeners are treated to a thrilling blend of big-band brass, infectious Latin rhythms and melodic twists that made Prado a worldwide sensation in the 1950s and early 1960s. The Japanese session adds an intriguing exotic flavor, with arrangements that subtly weave in Far Eastern atmospheres while retaining Prado's unmistakable mambo drive. "Twist Goes Latin" captures the moment when the twist craze swept the world and Prado responded with irresistibly danceable arrangements, merging the raw energy of rock 'n' roll with the elegance of Latin orchestration. Perez Prado, often simply called the King of Mambo, was one of the most influential Latin bandleaders of the twentieth century. Born in Cuba and later based in Mexico, he brought Afro-Cuban rhythms into the global mainstream and scored international hits with titles like "Mambo No. 5" and "Patricia", which topped charts and appeared in films, television and commercials for decades. His trademark grunts, explosive brass, and tightly arranged rhythms defined the sound of mambo and helped ignite the Latin music boom far beyond the Spanish-speaking world. This collection captures that legacy in a focused and highly enjoyable way, highlighting his skill as an arranger and bandleader with a crack orchestra at his command. The CD is released by Sepia, a label known for lovingly curated reissues and high-quality restorations of classic recordings from the golden age of popular music. Sepia specializes in bringing rare, long-unavailable albums back to life, giving new listeners and collectors access to historically important sessions in carefully remastered sound, often accompanied by informative booklets and detailed discographic notes. Anyone interested in classic Latin dance music, big-band sound or the roots of modern pop rhythms will find this disc an essential addition to their collection. "Prado in Japan & Twist Goes Latin" is thus more than just a reissue: it is a snapshot of a unique artist successfully crossing cultural and stylistic boundaries. From sophisticated orchestrations to sweaty dance-floor numbers, this CD shows why Perez Prado's music still resonates today and why his recordings remain a reference point for musicians, collectors and dancers around the world.
