Before release, this was hailed by frontman Nick Holmes as "Definitely the heaviest album we have done in the last 10 years" and upon first listen it is clear that he is right in this respect.

The homonymous album from 2005 follows some tendencies from previous Paradise Lost albums, more gothic rock oriented, although this album comes a little more close to some metal music. Not a bad album, but bot among their best works.
