Description:

From New Line Cinema, Peter Jackson and Warner Bros. comes J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, brought to the big screen in an epic trilogy.

Weta Workshop was thrilled to return to Middle-earth once again, contributing design, specialty props and specialty costumes to all three films.

35 Bagshot Row is the fifth in our collectible series of Hobbit Holes!

This gorgeous little environment is an exacting miniature replica of the movie set that can be visited at Hobbiton in Matamata, New Zealand. It is an Open Edition piece.

Scattered among the grassy hills of Hobbiton like a purse full of lost coins, the bright round doors of many dozen hobbit-holes shine in bright, summery hues, each home to a Hobbit or family of the little people.

As diverse as the rosy-cheeked Hobbits themselves, every smial, as hobbit-holes are known, reflects the unique personality of its inhabitant and nestles into the hillside amid a sea of lush greenery.

Climbing the hill, bound for Bag End, well-wishers and distant relations of the esteemed Mr. Baggins would pass the colorful number 35 on their right, with its distinctive brick and thatch-roofed extension.

Each an individual dwelling, the Hobbit holes lend themselves splendidly to creative placement in your cabinet. With a flat back and shallow depth of only 2.16 inches (55mm), they can be placed on mantles, cornices, shelves and in windows.

Features:

  • Part of the Miniature Environment collectibles range from Weta Workshop
  • An exact replica of the bigature & film set
  • Sculpted by well-known Weta Workshop artists
  • Ultra-detailed and realistic sculpts
  • Made from high-quality Polystone

"Because of the relationship we have with all the production parts of the process, we have access to everything from concept drawings to set plans, which is really handy when making things like the Hobbit Holes."

- Leonard Ellis - Sculptor & Model Maker, Weta Workshop

  • Dimensions: (W x H x L) 11.5 cm x 7 cm x 5 cm

*Please note: This miniature environment was designed and prototyped here at the Workshop. Images are of a pre-production prototype. Each finished environment is painted by hand and slight variations will occur.

The collectible "Hobbit Hole - 35 Bagshot Row - Grey Door" from Weta Workshop is a finely crafted tribute to the magical world of Middle-earth. Based on the iconic hillside homes seen in "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" film trilogies, this piece represents one of the charming hobbit dwellings along Bagshot Row in the Shire. Designed primarily as a display piece for collectors, it captures the rustic architecture, lush greenery, and characteristic round door in a compact and highly detailed format.

From a technical perspective, this item is a static, pre-finished collectible: it is not a toy, has no moving parts, and is intended for indoor decorative use only. The hobbit hole is produced as a three-dimensional relief designed to sit flat against a surface such as a shelf, display cabinet, or desk. Typical for Weta's Shire range, the house front including the grey, circular door and the surrounding garden is sculpted in high detail, then cast and painted to highlight stone textures, wooden beams, windows, and foliage. The choice of durable casting material and a solid base ensures long-term stability and allows the piece to stand securely without additional support when correctly positioned.

In terms of application, this piece is especially suitable for collectors of film memorabilia, fans of J. R. R. Tolkien's works, and interior enthusiasts looking to incorporate subtle fantasy elements into their decor. Placed in a living room, study, or home cinema, it serves as a visual focal point and conversation starter, evoking the warmth, simplicity, and coziness of hobbit life. It also works well in themed collections when combined with other hobbit hole façades to create a miniature street scene from Bagshot Row. Thanks to its compact size, it is easy to integrate into existing collections, whether in a glass display case, on a bookshelf beside the novels, or on a dedicated Middle-earth shelf.

The advantages of this product lie in its combination of artistic quality, emotional resonance, and ease of use. Unlike kits that require assembly or painting, the "Hobbit Hole - 35 Bagshot Row - Grey Door" comes ready to display, making it ideal for both seasoned collectors and newcomers. The careful sculpting and paintwork preserve fine details, rewarding close inspection and photography, while the robust construction provides a long service life if handled and displayed properly. Its modest footprint also makes it a suitable gift for fans who may not have space for large statues, yet still want an authentic piece of the Shire in their home.

The manufacturer, Weta Workshop, is a New Zealand-based creative studio renowned for its work on high-profile film and television productions, notably "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" trilogies directed by Peter Jackson. Weta translates its experience in film props, miniatures, and special effects into collectible products that reflect the screen-used designs with high fidelity. Their close involvement in the original film production gives them access to authentic references and original concept artwork, which are then used to design collectibles that capture the spirit and detail of the cinematic Middle-earth.

Weta has publicly communicated various efforts that align with long-term sustainability and responsibility within the entertainment and creative industries, such as seeking more efficient use of materials, improving internal processes, and participating in broader initiatives that support local communities and creative talent. While detailed, product-specific sustainability data for this particular hobbit hole is not provided, supporting a studio that invests in durable, long-lasting collectibles instead of disposable items helps reduce the frequency of replacement purchases. By choosing a high-quality piece that is designed to be treasured for many years, customers can contribute to a more mindful form of consumption, valuing craftsmanship over short-lived products. In this way, purchasing a Weta collectible like "Hobbit Hole - 35 Bagshot Row - Grey Door" can be seen not only as an investment in personal enjoyment and fandom, but also as a small, positive choice in favor of enduring design and responsible collecting.
