"Back for Gold" is a CD release by the iconic German pop duo Modern Talking, presented here by Sony Music Catalog. This compilation brings together newly recorded versions and classic hits from their career, making it an ideal collection both for long-time fans and for new listeners discovering the band's unmistakable sound. Characterized by catchy melodies, polished production and a strong sense of nostalgia, the album revisits songs that helped define European pop in the 1980s and beyond, typically including signature tracks like "You're My Heart, You're My Soul", "Cheri, Cheri Lady" or "Brother Louie" in updated or remastered form. The CD format offers clear, consistent sound quality and a physical keepsake with artwork that pays homage to the band's successful history.

Modern Talking, consisting of Dieter Bohlen and Thomas Anders, ranks among the most successful pop acts to come out of Germany. International chart hits in the mid-1980s made them a defining force in Eurodisco and synth-pop, and their comeback in the late 1990s introduced their music to a new generation through fresh productions and remixes. Their songs topped charts across Europe and beyond, contributing to multi-million record sales and making Modern Talking a household name in many countries.

The release is handled by Sony Music Catalog, a division within Sony Music that specializes in preserving, curating and reissuing important recordings from renowned artists. With careful remastering standards, attention to packaging and an eye for both collectors and new audiences, Sony Music Catalog focuses on presenting classic material in contemporary, high-quality formats. This makes "Back for Gold" not only a nostalgic journey through Modern Talking's greatest successes, but also a carefully produced catalog title designed to stand the test of time in any CD collection.

Azmi H. - 14/Dec/2021 5 of 5 Stars!
The best thing about “Back for gold”: some of its new versions. Of the 6 included on this album, in my opinion, the 2 best are “You can win if you want” (the most danceable and elaborate of all, with sax accompaniment) and “Cheri Cheri Lady”. “You're my heart, you're my soul” also has a dancing rhythm, but it's not as good as the ones mentioned above. The same goes for “Brother Louie”, which changes the famous rhythm of the original song. “Geronimo's Cadillac” changes little from the original version.

The compilation contains 6 brand new remixes of the earlier hits. And they are very well done. But the rest of the album is still the same. How it would be super if Dieter and Jeo made more remixes and include several rare old tracks.
