This version of Nobody Else but Me comes as a 1xCD. - This solo piano release is Michael Pagan's first CD for Capri. His command of the keyboard has been said to be akin to Oscar Peterson and Art Tatum, with references to Horace Silver, Bill Evans and McCoy Tyner. Add to those his other admitted influences of Chick Corea, Clare Fischer, Dick Hyman and George Shearing and you have a broad range of styles. Happily, what comes out is neither an eclectic reworking nor a succession of the individual styles, but rather remarkable fresh, creative and distinctive approach all it's own. |
