Description:

From New Line Cinema, Peter Jackson and Warner Bros. comes J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, brought to the big screen in an epic trilogy.

Weta Workshop was thrilled to return to Middle-earth once again, contributing design, specialty props and specialty costumes to all three films.

Weta Workshop's authentic prop replicas are designed by the very same artists and technicians who work on our movies, using the same techniques and materials. We treat our prop replicas with the same level of care, quality and attention to detail that we bring to our film work.

Gifted to Kili by his mother, this labradorite stone bore six runes etched onto its polished surface: Return to me. A constant reminder of a promise he made before their quest began.

Designed by the same artists and craftspeople who worked on The Hobbit trilogy, Kili's Rune Stone is made from polystone and painted to create the appearance of labradorite.

Features:

  • 1:1 scale
  • Made from high-quality Polystone
  • Ultra-detailed and realistic - exact replica of the prop used in-game

"It is a talisman, a powerful spell lies upon it. If any but a dwarf reads the runes on the stone, they will be forever cursed, or not. Depending on whether you believe that kind of thing. It's just a token - a rune-stone. My mother gave it to me so I'd remember my promise."

- Kili The Dwarf

*Please note: This product was designed and prototyped at Weta Workshop. Images are of a pre-production prototype. Each piece is painted by hand and slight variations will occur.

Inspired by the emotional story of Kili in *The Hobbit* film trilogy, "Hobbit: Kili's Rune Stone" by Weta Workshop is a finely crafted collectible that recreates the rune stone seen on screen with remarkable authenticity. Designed as a display piece for fans and collectors, it captures the personal, intimate nature of the prop while meeting the demanding quality standards typical of official Middle-earth merchandise.

Technically, this rune stone is a solid, hand-finished replica made from durable casting material (exact composition not specified by the manufacturer) with engraved rune details faithfully based on the movie design. The surface is textured to resemble aged stone, with subtle variations in color and depth that give it a realistic, well-worn look. The piece is compact enough to fit easily on a shelf, in a display case, or on a desk and is designed to be handled occasionally without losing detail or clarity. Each rune stone is produced under Weta Workshop's licensed *The Hobbit* merchandise line, ensuring accurate proportions, shapes, and graphics consistent with film references.

In terms of application, Kili's Rune Stone is intended for collectors of *The Hobbit* and *The Lord of the Rings*, fans of dwarf culture in Middle-earth, and anyone who appreciates high-quality fantasy props. It works especially well as a centerpiece in a Tolkien display, a highlight in a curio cabinet, or as part of a themed bookshelf arrangement with books, DVDs, and other replicas. Because of its symbolic meaning in the story--representing loyalty, love, and a promise--it also serves as a meaningful gift for close friends or family members who share an affinity for Middle-earth. Cosplayers and role-players can integrate the rune stone into their costumes or tabletop setups for added authenticity.

The advantages of this product lie in its combination of screen accuracy, craftsmanship, and emotional resonance. Unlike generic fantasy trinkets, this rune stone is based on a specific, recognizable prop from the films, connecting the owner directly to a key character and narrative moment. Weta Workshop's experience in prop and model making for the actual films translates into a piece with fine detailing and a convincingly "lived-in" feel. Its modest size and straightforward shape make it easy to place and reposition without complicated mounts or stands, while its solid construction helps it withstand normal handling in everyday display conditions.

Weta Workshop, based in New Zealand, is internationally known for its work on *The Lord of the Rings*, *The Hobbit*, and many other film, television, and gaming projects. The same studio that helped bring Middle-earth to life on screen also designs and produces this collectible, which means the design language, sculpting approach, and finishing techniques are informed by real film production experience. Weta Workshop is recognized for valuing artisanal skills, collaborating closely with concept artists, sculptors, and model makers to preserve a high standard of detail and storytelling in their products.

Publicly available information indicates that Weta Workshop increasingly explores responsible production approaches and long-term product value, for example by focusing on durable keepsakes meant to be treasured and displayed for many years rather than quickly discarded. While specific sustainability measures for this particular rune stone are not documented, investing in a long-lasting, high-quality collectible instead of short-lived, mass-market items can help reduce waste over time. By choosing an officially licensed piece from the original creative studio, customers support the continued development of carefully made, enduring objects instead of disposable merchandise. In this way, the purchase becomes not only a celebration of *The Hobbit*, but also a small contribution to a culture of fewer, better objects that are cherished and preserved.

Fantastic stone that arrived in a sealed little bag with a certificate. The stone is truly beautiful and has a very brilliant color in the sunlight. ✨
