Extra-Infos: .. Graphophone Recordings/ Complete Warner Cls Edition
Description:Walter Giesekingā??s finesse, imagination and sureness of touch brought him special and lasting distinction in the solo piano works of Debussy and Ravel, which he recorded in their entirety. The complete solo piano works of Mozart are another pillar of this 48-CD collection, which comprises recordings made between 1923 and 1956. Demonstrating the breadth of Giesekingā??s musical interests, it ranges from Bach to composers of the generation that followed Ravel. The edition features a substantial number of CD premieres and rarities and nine world premiere releases ā?? recordings of works by Gieseking himself and by Debussy, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Schumann and Alexandre Tansman. The entire collection has been newly remastered. Stylistically multi-faceted, Gieseking took a specific approach to each composer whose music he interpreted, shaping a particular soundworld in every case. His identification with the works of Debussy was summed up by Gramophone in 1996: ā??Debussy and Gieseking form an inseparable union where creator and recreator become one and the same person. Had Debussy lived to hear Gieseking he would surely have marvelled at such an uncanny identification with his very spirit.ā?¯ Two-piece box, 48 CD, LP-era covers based on original artwork. Liner notes in English, French, German. - .. GRAPHOPHONE RECORDINGS/COMPLETE WARNER CLS EDITION

Walter Gieseking (1895-1956) is regarded as one of the great pianists of the 20th century, particularly admired for his interpretations of French Impressionists and the German-Austrian core repertoire. Known for his exceptional tonal control and his ability to produce an almost orchestral range of colors at the keyboard, he left benchmark recordings that continue to influence pianists and listeners today. His discs of Debussy and Ravel, as well as central works by Mozart and Beethoven, are still widely cited as reference interpretations. This edition places that artistic legacy in focus, allowing the listener to follow Gieseking's stylistic breadth and pianistic evolution in a concentrated, high-quality form.
