| Description: | The serenity of medieval music. The music of the Middle Ages exists today only thanks to the meticulous and thorough work of musicians like Dominique Vellard. At the head of his Ensemble Gilles Binchois, he works to give life to the liturgical repertoire of ancient monasteries. In their new disc, they immersed themselves in the musical universe of the Spanish monastery of Las Huelgas Reales and interpret pieces from the manuscript still preserved in its library. In all corners of Europe, the manuscripts â?? or codices â?? which record the chants of the offices form varied sets of pieces. Some come from Notre-Dame de Paris, proof that music circulates throughout the Middle Ages; others are unique. Dominique Vellard draws on this great book to compose a moment of pure plenitude in the form of a journey through the centuries. The sound recording, close to the singers, has not neglected the necessary resonance of the a capella repertoire and invites to meditation. - DOMINIQUE VELLARDTotal time 64:38.
