Blackstar is an album that fully expresses what David Bowie is capable of at this late stage of his career. It's consistent from beginning to end, compelling in its nuances and left turns, arty, yet accessible.

Well and yes, regarding the "obituary" status of the album. I met a lot of objections: they say that Bowie, who had certified “My Death” at one time, and who was constantly in his compositions with his death with a short leg, was too worried about his own death. But it’s one thing to sing about death, another to feel her breath and the whole year that the album was being recorded, to feel the inexorability of her approach. There are no hidden messages about the past or the future, especially nothing of the momentary and urgent (otherwise I heard a wild theory - say, the title song is inspired only by the “acts” of ISIS). Even if David uses the motives of the 16th-century play ("'Tis a Pity She Was a Whore") - he recounts what he personally experienced. Like Girl Loves Me, which is not a reference to Mechanical Orange at all, but rather a treatise on the recognition of one's own sexuality - the Duke’s true orientation is still the subject of heated debate, and he himself managed to burn himself more than once in these disputes. Well, if you think that lines from the best of new songs, "Lazarus" "Look up here, I'm in heaven I've got scars that can't be seen I've got drama, can't be stolen Everybody knows me now " Bowie wanted to admit any allegorical interpretations, or even encrypted a message about anything and anyone but himself, his life and death - then you just have a very bad opinion about him.

There are no words. A perfect album. But, for me, vinyl sound is better. However, BOWIE forever

The final album of the great Artist. His swan song, his last masterpiece, very impressive mix of jazz and art rock. Budget but nice digipack edition. Must have!
