Sharon the alternate recording of what would become Cowboy Junkies 1990 The Caution Horses album and follow up to the band's iconic album The Trinity Session, is available for pre-order for the first time on 180-gram vinyl. The one-microphone recording, captured over 3-days at Sharon Temple in the Spring of 1989, is a 'lost' album featuring many songs that became The Caution Horses. This release is a limited pressing that includes an 8-page booklet containing liner notes by Dave Bowler (author of the bands' biography Music Is The Drug) and never before seen session photos by Chris Buck. Sharon is mastered for vinyl by Cowboy Junkies long-time producer, Peter Moore.
All tracks recorded on a single Calrec Ambisonic microphone in April 1989 at Sharon Temple in East Gwillimbury, Ontario, Canada. Initial release includes 8 page booklet. All tracks previously unreleased apart from A4 and B3 which were on a limited edition promo [r=2591019] given away with the Black Eyed Man LP in UK HMV stores in 1992
"Sharon" is a long-playing vinyl album (LP) by the Cowboy Junkies, released under the renowned label RCA Records. This edition offers the band's characteristic blend of intimate songwriting, subtle instrumentation and atmospheric soundscapes, making it an ideal choice for listeners who appreciate nuanced alternative country and folk-influenced rock. The warm analog character of the LP format underlines the band's restrained dynamics and detailed arrangements, inviting you to experience the music in a focused, album-oriented way from the opening grooves to the final fade-out. The record is conceived as a cohesive listening journey, in which each track contributes to a contemplative, emotionally resonant overall mood. Whether you are a long-time fan or discovering Cowboy Junkies for the first time, this LP offers a deep, immersive listening experience that rewards repeated plays.

Cowboy Junkies are known for their quiet intensity, poetic lyrics and the unmistakable, velvety-melancholic voice of singer Margo Timmins. Since the late 1980s they have earned an international following with their minimalist, slow-burning approach, often described as a bridge between alt-country, folk and indie rock. Their breakthrough came with the critically acclaimed album "The Trinity Session", which found a lasting place in music history thanks to its sparse arrangements and haunting atmosphere; since then, the band has released a long series of studio albums and live recordings that have repeatedly been praised by the music press for their consistency and artistic integrity. With releases like these, Cowboy Junkies have proven themselves to be one of the most enduring and respected bands of their genre, continually refining their sound without losing their unmistakable identity.

The LP "Sharon" benefits from RCA Records' long experience as a major label with a broad catalog across many genres. RCA, one of the historically important names in the recording industry, has stood for a combination of technical innovation and artistic diversity for decades. Countless influential artists have released their music through RCA, and the label is known for high-quality productions, distribution reach and professional support for its roster. For vinyl fans, an RCA release often means careful production standards that help capture the full sonic range of the recordings. This LP thus unites the artistic subtlety of Cowboy Junkies with the established production environment of RCA Records, resulting in a record that is both collectible and made for intensive listening.

In practical terms, "Sharon" in LP format is aimed at listeners who value the ritual of putting on a record and consciously devoting themselves to the music. It can serve equally well as a centerpiece for relaxed evening listening sessions or as a focused, headphone-based exploration of the band's sound aesthetics. The analog groove structure of vinyl underlines the depth of the recordings and offers a tactile connection to the music that many digital formats cannot provide. For fans of understated, emotionally rich songwriting and for collectors who appreciate the synergy between a distinctive band and an established label, this LP is a compelling addition to the shelf and turntable alike.
