| Description: | Cellist, organist and composer, Schale was active in that historical period in which a new way of composing for harpsichord starts to make it's way through stylistic features of composition that will characterize classicism. In his keyboard Sonatas, we can identify the joining link that has allowed the true Classical Sonatas of Haydn and Mozart to exist. Luigi Chiarizia (L'Aquila, 1 August 1978) is a harpsichordist, organist and composer. Born from generations of artists, he began studying music at the age of six, studying first with the masters Rendine, Nenna, Herrera, and Carnini, later with Mencoboni, Suzzani and Pappagallo, maintaining, however, a personal musical thought. In his free time he writes and draws. He graduated brilliantly in organ and organ composition in Pescara."Fünf Cembalosonaten" on CD presents Luigi Chiarizia as a refined interpreter of the harpsichord repertoire, focusing on the intimate, architectural world of five carefully selected sonatas. Across this recording, the listener is invited into a soundscape shaped by clarity of articulation, elegant ornamentation and a nuanced sense of phrasing that brings out both the dance-like vitality and the meditative depth of the works. The recording emphasizes the natural resonance of the instrument: the warm, clear timbre of the harpsichord is captured with attention to detail, so that every line of counterpoint and every harmonic shift remains transparent.
Chiarizia's playing is characterized by stylistic awareness and a keen understanding of baroque rhetoric: tempi are well judged, contrasts between light and shade are precisely balanced, and the subtle rubato in cadences gives the music a vocal, almost narrative quality. Whether in lively outer movements or in more contemplative slow movements, he shapes the musical discourse with a sure hand, avoiding exaggerated effects in favour of a historically informed, yet personal reading. The result is a coherent, dramaturgically well-planned programme that can be experienced either as a complete journey or enjoyed in individual sonatas.
The artist Luigi Chiarizia has established himself as a specialist for early keyboard music with a particular focus on stylistic authenticity and expressive depth. His work reflects intensive study of original sources and performance practice, which translates into interpretations that are both scholarly grounded and emotionally direct. With concert appearances and recordings dedicated to the harpsichord repertoire, he has contributed to keeping this instrument vivid and present in today's classical music scene, bringing its richness and variety to a wider audience.
The CD is released by Urania, a label known for its dedication to classical repertoire and carefully curated productions. Urania has built a reputation for offering recordings that combine artistic integrity with solid sound quality, often highlighting artists and works that stand slightly aside from the mainstream but deserve discovery. Their catalog pays particular attention to historically informed performance and to projects that broaden the listener's horizon. With "Fünf Cembalosonaten", Urania once again underlines its role as a label that values musical substance, coherent programming and respectful, well-produced editions of demanding classical repertoire. |
