AUTOGRAPH

Autograph is a hard rock band that originated from Los Angeles, California in the early 1980s. It was during this era when the American music industry had seen a rise in the popularity of hard rock music, and Autograph was amongst the bands that had gained massive success during this time. The band is known for its signature rock anthems that have stood the test of time, making it a favorite among rock music enthusiasts for several decades. Autograph was formed in 1983 by Steve Plunkett, who was the band’s lead vocalist and primary songwriter. The band’s lineup also included Steve Lynch on guitar, Randy Rand on bass, Keni Richards on drums, and Steven Isham as the keyboardist. Autograph's sound was heavily influenced by the likes of Van Halen and Foreigner, as well as other bands in the hard rock genre. Autograph's debut album, "Sign In Please," released in 1984, was a commercial success, reaching number 29 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album featured the popular single "Turn Up the Radio," which became their signature hit and was a staple on rock radio stations in the 1980s. The song’s catchy chorus and upbeat sound helped Autograph gain regular airplay and made them one of the most prominent bands in the Los Angeles music scene. The band's success continued with their second album, "That's the Stuff," which was released in 1985. The album featured another hit single titled "Blondes in Black Cars." The album was also well-received by critics and helped cement Autograph's status as one of the prominent hard rock bands of the era. Despite their success, the band went through several lineup changes in the late 1980s, and their popularity began to decline. Nevertheless, they continued to release albums and toured regularly, gathering a loyal fan base. In 1997, Autograph disbanded, but in 2013, the band reunited with its classic lineup for a benefit concert. The concert inspired the band members to continue playing together, and they have since released new music and toured extensively. Autograph has undeniably left its mark on the history of hard rock music, and its impact continues to be felt by rock enthusiasts across different generations. Their catchy choruses, guitar-driven hooks, and high-energy performances have earned them a place in the hearts of hard rock fans worldwide. Though they underwent several lineup changes and faced challenges along the way, Autograph's contribution to rock music remains significant, and their music will continue to be celebrated for years to come.
