ANA POPOVIC

Ana Popovic is a Serbian-American blues guitarist and singer who has made a name for herself in the music industry as a dynamic performer with a unique sound. Born on May 13, 1976, in Belgrade, Serbia, Ana found her passion for music at an early age. Her father Milutin Popović was a famous guitar player in his own right and owned a record store which exposed Ana to blues icons such as Muddy Waters and Jimi Hendrix. Ana started playing the guitar when she was just fifteen years old and began performing in public soon after. She formed her first band Hush at the age of eighteen, and they quickly became a popular act in Serbia. However, in the early 90s, with the onset of war, Ana and her family left Serbia and moved to Amsterdam, where she continued her musical journey. Ana's music is a blend of blues, rock, and soul, with influences from artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Robert Cray. Her guitar playing is characterized by intricate solos, powerful riffs, and a mix of rhythms that make her music infectious and unique. Ana's voice is also a highlight of her performances, with a range that can go from soft and sweet to bold and powerful in a matter of seconds. After moving to the United States in 1999, Ana recorded her first album Hush! in 2001, which gained critical acclaim and helped her establish a fan base in North America. She went on to release several more successful albums, including Comfort To The Soul (2003), Can You Stand The Heat (2013) and Trilogy (2016), which features guest appearances by Joe Bonamassa, Robert Randolph, and many others. In addition to her solo career, Ana has collaborated with a variety of other musicians, including Buddy Guy, Solomon Burke, and Keb' Mo'. She has also performed at several prestigious music festivals around the world such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, the North Sea Jazz Festival, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Ana has received numerous awards and recognition for her work. She was the only woman to be named "Queen of the Blues" at the annual Memphis International Blues Challenge in 2002. In 2014, Ana won the Award for Best Artist in the Rock/Blues category at the European Blues Awards. Ana has also been nominated for several Blues Music Awards over the years. In conclusion, Ana Popovic is a talented guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter who continues to captivate audiences with her unique style and sound. Her music is characterized by soulful vocals, complex guitar work, and a fusion of blues and rock, which make her stand out from the rest. Ana's contributions to the music world, both as a solo artist and collaborator, have earned her a reputation as one of today's most promising and exciting new talents, and we can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
